Fixing Dry, Cracked Skin

The cold winter months are some of the toughest on your skin. The cold air dries your skin out and if you don’t take the proper steps to protect it, you’ll end up with cracked skin that’s painful.

So how do you stop the effects of the weather from hurting your skin? Let’s see what Dr. Kraig K. Jenson recommends you do.

Don’t skimp on the lotion

This one is a bit obvious, but there’s actually a trick you can use to make your lotion use more effective, and most people aren’t aware of this. Instead of drying all the water off your skin after a shower or bath, gently dry yourself and then apply moisturizer all over your body. The extra water on your skin will help retain the moisturizing effects of lotion and protect your skin for that much longer.

Superglue

If your skin has dried and cracked to the point that it’s starting to be painful and the cracks are spreading and causing more and more discomfort, then you can use a common household item to stop them from spreading – superglue. Just make sure the crack is clean, apply just enough to seal the crack, and you’ll be rewarded with skin that won’t crack more than it already has.
