Laser Treatments Q&A

What are laser treatments?

Laser treatments are noninvasive outpatient therapies to treat cosmetic skin issues, and there are several available at the Dermatology Center. Your dermatologist uses high-end laser systems like InMode or Fraxel® to help you reach your skin care goals.

Skin irregularities like wrinkles, scars, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage can see a major improvement with multiple laser treatments with a little healing time in between them. You can even use laser treatments to remove body hair.

Lasers emit highly powerful, concentrated beams of light. They can serve so many different purposes in skin care because different wavelengths target specific tissue types or cell types within the skin.

Which laser treatments can I get?

Your dermatologist talks to you about your goals during a consultation before recommending a laser treatment that can help you meet them. Available laser treatments include:

Fraxel laser treatment

Fraxel stimulates an increase in collagen production in your skin. That makes your skin stronger and firmer and can minimize features like acne scars, wrinkles, and sun damage.

InMode Morpheus8

InMode Morpheus8 is similar to Fraxel in that it causes more collagen production deep within your skin. Once you complete your treatment course, your skin is smoother and more radiant.

InMode Lumecca

InMode Lumecca is not a traditional laser treatment. Instead, it’s an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment. IPL is a bright, scattered type of light that works well to target pigmented lesions like age spots and vascular lesions.

InMode DiolazeXL

InMode DiolazeXL can quickly and conveniently remove body hair by targeting the follicles. The results are semi-permanent, and you can treat large areas at a time.

InMode Vasculaze

InMode Vasculaze is a laser treatment for vascular lesions on the leg and face. It precisely targets spider veins and varicose veins.

How should I care for my skin after laser treatment?

Your dermatologist gives you aftercare instructions according to the specific type of laser they use for your treatment. Generally, you should take extra care to avoid sun exposure after laser therapy. That includes applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen and staying out of the harsh sunlight if possible.

You should also come to any follow-up appointments that your dermatologist helps you schedule in order to complete your treatment or monitor your results.
