3 Dermatology Treatments to Improve Your Skin’s Appearance

The holidays are here and New Year’s is around the corner. There’s no time like the present to get take care of those skin conditions you might have been unhappy with. In fact, why not start the new year off right and head into 2019 looking better than ever?

At Kraig Jensen, PC, Dermatology Center, we are pleased to treat patients of all ages for their skin issues, including acne, moles and warts. Our skilled dermatologists, Dr. Kraig Jenson and Dr. Byron Edwards, have helped many patients achieve satisfaction by correcting various skin problems using the latest technology and techniques.

1 – ACNE TREATMENTS

Acne can unfortunately leave long-lasting marks, and some patients come in with deep acne scars on their face. In these instances, Drs. Jenson and Edwards might recommend dermabrasion and dermaplaning to treat the scarring. This treatment works by refinishing the skin’s uppermost layers through controlled surgical scraping, improving your skin’s appearance by minimizing the scarring. By smoothing these skin irregularities, the skin looks smoother, whether it’s a small area on your face that requires smoothing or your entire face.

Depending on the size of the area requiring treatment, dermabrasion and dermaplaning can last from a few minutes to an hour and a half. Sometimes, if the scarring runs deep, scraping the outermost layer of the skin may require more than one visit. You will be made comfortable during the treatment, typically using a local anesthetic. When the treatment is done scarring should be minimal and the skin left more even and smooth.

2 – MOLE REMOVAL

Removing moles is a common treatment, especially if you are an adult or you have light skin. For the most part, moles are not harmful. But melanoma (one form of skin cancer) sometimes grows near a mole, or inside of it. One way to check for melanoma is if enlarges, bleeds, or itches. If you see any unusual signs please schedule a visit with Dr. Jenson and Dr. Edwards. If the mole invites suspicion, we may take a tissue sample to determine if it is cancerous. If it is, we will remove it. This can be done quickly and painlessly by numbing the area.

3 – WART REMOVAL

If you have an unsightly wart, Drs. Jenson and Edwards may remove it, although warts often go away without intervention and most are harmless. But if it is painful or you have too many of them, Dr. Jenson and Dr. Edwards can remove them through one of our wart removal treatments. Removing a wart is determined by your health, age, and the kind of wart it is. A wart may be painted with a substance followed by clipping it off, or frozen, laser burned, scraped or cut out.

For more than 30 years, Dr. Jenson and Dr. Edwards have provided dermatology treatments for patients in Orem, Utah, as well as the neighboring communities, including Provo, American Fork, Cedar Hills, Draper, Highland, Lehi, Lindon, Payson, Pleasant Grove, Saratoga Springs, Spanish Fork, and Vineyard, Utah.
